Announcement: Army chopper crashes in India

NEW DELHI: In yet another helicopter accident in the armed forces, an Army Cheetah crashed on Wednesday morning near the Nagaland-Manipur border, killing three officers.

Since April 2007, there have been 40 crashes of fighters and helicopters in the armed forces, killing 19 and injuring 16 people.

The forces have lost well over 70 helicopters in crashes over the last decade.

The latest casaulty occurred when the Cheetah, on "a routine sortie" between Dimapur and Limakong crashed around five km from the Vishwema helipad, which is located on the border of the two north-eastern states.
